The top 10 global commodity traders with significant presence on all continents in all areas of agri commodities trading & related financial services. Asia Pac/PRC operations are a fast growing part of the worldwide business and they are aggressively scouting for more business project opportunities across China. To spearhead the entire gamut of their business development activities in China, they are currently looking for a BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Based in Shanghai, he will report to the MD in China. Key Result Areas will include:

• identifying, developing & winning new business opportunities in China.
• nurturing & sustaining new customer relationships
• managing & growing the group’s extensive physical support services & supply chain infrastructure in China and
• handling all aspects of financial & administration services.

He must preferably be an MBA and have a solid track record of at least 3-5 years in China in a similar role in identifying high potential new projects, customers and vendors based on solid commercial and financial considerations and the company’s risk guidelines. He must be able to develop strong relationships with vendors and customers with emphasis on projects and with logistics providers such as ports, warehouse operators, quality surveyors etc. He will work with the MD in building strong linkages with banks, risk & insurance companies; commodities and futures exchanges, legal counsel, PRC regulatory & compliance authorities etc. Good understanding of Trade and asset based financial transactions, treasury functions and all operating/ MIS reporting including companywide IT Systems will be essential.

This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for an individual with extensive business experience in China at a similar level with leading global commodity traders. Prior experience in Trade Financing / banking coupled with excellent understanding of risk in soft commodity trading/project development environment will be essential. Must be a go-getter with a penchant for creating sustainable businesses from scratch. Preferred age group: mid thirties to early forties.

The position is based in Shanghai. Gross compensation, which includes expat perks, will be very attractive, with a pragmatic performance based incentive arrangement.
