Our client is a large engineering group that offers specialized electronics and telecommunications systems for both commercial enterprises and institutional customers. It specializes in design, development and integration of advanced electronics systems and applies leading edge technologies and design methodologies to meet the stringent requirements of electronics systems and solutions. It invests heavily in product development to help create cost-effective proprietary products at system and component levels that offer innovative, customized solutions to its customers.
For one of its telecommunications product lines, our client is interested in recruiting :
Position : Business Unit Manager (Telecom Products)

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the business operations for the new product line including Strategic Planning, Product Strategy, Go-to-Market Strategy, Business Development, Channel Development, Alliance Management, Sales Strategy, Geographical Expansion and product line extension.
As a techno-commercial leader of the team, he/she will drive the overall business and ensure that product development goals and activities are aligned with business requirements. Although the role does not oversee Product Development function, the selected candidate will need to work very closely with various team members to ensure successful commercial launch - from prototype and productionization to new client acquisition and successful delivery.
He/she will be responsible for overall profitability of the business, customer relationship management, bid/proposal management, delivery and customer satisfaction.
The Business Manager will act as the representative of the CEO for the specific business unit and will need to work with cross-functional teams, especially Product Engineering and Manufacturing, to ensure smooth business operations and delivery.
Requirements :
Ideal candidates will be experienced techno-commercial professionals with multi-function exposure to telecommunications products/solutions for commercial/institutional sectors. They will ideally have :
- A Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering, preferably EE or Telecommunications from reputed institutions
- Preferably, a post graduate degree/diploma in business management
- Strong exposure to Telecom Products/Integrated Solutions
- Exposure to satellite communications, microwave, terrestrial communication systems, asset tracking systems, marine communication/navigation or similar systems would be ideal
- At least 10 years of total work experience, of which 3-5 should be in the telecom sector
- Experience in managing tenders/proposals worth USD 1 to 5 million. Strong exposure to public sector/institutional tendering processes
- Strong solution-selling experience, both direct and through channel partners
- Experience in developing and managing international channels (mainly local System Integrators) would be ideal
- Experience and strong understanding of markets in SE Asia, Middle East, South Asia and Central Asia would be preferred
- A passion for Product Engineering and Business Management would be critical
- Entrepreneurial skills, maturity, quick thinking and quick learning abilities, high level of energy and resourcefulness, ability to travel frequently and to work with multi-ethnic teams
- Very strong communication and presentation skills.
- Strong multi-tasking, coordination and project management abilities
- Fluency in English is essential. Knowledge of Asian languages would be advantageous.
