Our client is a leading Islamic Bank with an instant brand recall in all the geographies they operate and they are well known for their excellence in operations in the areas of retail, investment & corporate banking with a multibillion dollar balance sheet and a diversified presence across the region. They are known to provide their customers with innovative solutions, exceptional service and are synonymous with performance and results. As a pioneer of integrated financial services to private, institutional & Corporate clients, they have a substantial local presence in each of the markets they are in and are now engaged in introducing some of the most cutting edge e-banking into Syria which is a major focus areasfor the bank and they are urgently looking for an outstanding senior banker for Syria to take over as Managing Director.
Reporting to the Board, The MD will be responsible for all aspects of profitability and growth of the bank in the assigned market. We feel the ideal candidate will be a very senior banker who is currently at a similar level with a successful, fast growing bank or who has been the regional / Country head for a large Private / Corporate / Investment banking practice with a leading global bank ( preferably Islamic bank) and who has had general management responsibilities with large banks involving building teams, introducing innovative new product lines and distribution networks. In all cases, an outstanding track record of career achievements at the apex level in regional markets coupled with an aggressive passion for growth & profitability will be essential. A mature understanding and knowledge of the ground realities and constraints in Syria backed with a pragmatic approach focusing on what it takes to build a cutting edge, high growth, multi-branch bank will be necessary.
We would also be interested in talking to bankers who have nurtured and spearheaded a start-up broad based full banking operation to major success in any of these countries.
Personality: 40-45 years, Should be a male, Muslim by faith, fluency in Arabic, is a must. Knowledge of additional languages of Kurdish/Armenian/French in addition to English will be an advantage. The prospects should understand the principles and the framework of Islamic banking. He should be a self starter, proactive in approach and entrepreneur at heart.
