Our client is a US-based specialist Engineering Plastics company that supplies high quality engineering thermoplastics - ABS, Acetal, Nylon, PBT, Polycarbonates, PC Alloy, PPE, SAN etc. - to a wide range of global customers. It offers a variety of world class resins combined with all the benefits of an efficient business model for distribution and technical services. The company is unique by being able to provide engineered solutions in the form of uniquely designed custom products particularly polycarbonates to meet tough regulatory and customer- and product-specific requirements.
The company has been exporting its products to customers in China for the past few years. Its business has grown rapidly and holds great potential for the future so a commitment has been made to expand in the region. To support the increased activity, the company is opening a Representative Office in Shanghai.
Our client would like to bring on board a team of highly proactive, professional and technically competent people from the engineering plastics industry and is looking for a senior industry professional to join the team as :

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will provide leadership to Sales, Marketing and Business Development activities in China; act as the key interface between China-based activities and USA HQ; and will be responsible for increasing China sales by leveraging the company's unique capabilities, products and China team strengths.
The position reports to the President of the company for Strategy Planning and long term objectives; and to Business Development Manager for sales and technical issues. Both are based at the US HQ.
The key objective is to quickly expand sales by first quantifying an effective marketing and sales plan, resulting in increase in the number of customers as well as product approvals by potential customers; linking and focusing on end users (design and product managers), specifiers (including outsource engineering design houses), molders and contract manufacturers.
Equally critical is to build, motivate, guide and mentor a team of young sales professionals; provide strategic and tactical guidance; set and monitor goals; and support the team members to excel in their respective areas.
Requirements:
- A graduate/post-graduate degree from a reputed university, preferably in Chemistry - with specialization in Polymer Chemistry.
- At least 10 years of relevant working experience, of which the last 3 years should be in a sales management/leadership role, preferably with an MNC or a large Chinese corporation.
- Strong knowledge of Chinese markets for Engineering Plastics/modified polymers.
- Familiarity with the Plastic Injection Molding process
- Technical knowledge of Engineering Plastics, Injection Molding Process and Machines.
- Self-driven, proactive, results-oriented person with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality, ethics and business profit.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin.
- Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with senior company executives as well as working with USA based counterparts.
- Strong leadership skills and strategic business vision; personality, track-record and credibility to win the confidence and support of clients and team members strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to travel extensively and to work with multi-cultural teams.
