The Client

Our client is a rapidly growing Asian corporation that designs and manufactures Optical Transmission equipment, especially SDH/SONET/OTN, for emerging markets. It has had remarkable successes and growth in the recent years which has prompted the company to expand globally.

It plans to set up a new Product Development Center in Singapore that will leverage on the company's core strengths :

• Strong fundamentals in Telecom Systems Design for access and optical transport segment.
• Ownership of IP cores and software capabilities that enable next generation integrated, compact, reliable, cost-effective, scalable, modular, and highly managed telecom equipment.
• Superior product support to ensure low rate of design outage and product obsolescence.
• Optimal software and hardware design that ensures lower cost of equipment, hence faster returns

to develop next generation products for high-growth, low-ARPU, emerging markets.

To lead the new Product Development Center, our client is interested in recruiting a senior, high-caliber product development professional from the optical networking industry to join the team as :

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will provide overall leadership to the new Product Development Center for design and development of next generation of Optical Transmission equipment. He/she will be responsible for leading the full product development lifecycle for specific product lines, including technology roadmaps, planning, management and delivery. Interfacing with in-house and external teams, clients and external vendors, he/she will coordinate multiple projects and sub-projects to ensure quality as well as schedule of deliverables.

As a key technical resource, he/she will lead the company's technological growth by introduction/development of new appropriate technologies; develop alliances with other technology partners and research institutions; motivate and mentor team members and guide them on design methodologies; and troubleshoot technical issues. He/she will monitor and keep the management and team members apprised of new technologies and trends that can impact the product line and its global markets.

Requirements:

• Candidates must be experienced (at least 15 years of relevant experience) technical leaders with strong product development background.
• A graduate/post graduate/doctoral qualification in Engineering in EE or Telecommunications from a premier institute.
• Expertise in Optical Transmission products, especially SDH/SONET/OTN, and NMS
• Strong experience in Project/Program Management during different phases of full product development lifecycle covering Architecture, Design, Development, Acceptance and Release to manufacturing.
• Broad exposure to product design covering hardware, firmware, software applications and mechanical areas
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities and resourcefulness.
• A passion for Product Engineering and Technical Leadership
• Entrepreneurial skills, maturity, high level of energy and resourcefulness, ability to travel frequently and to work with multi-ethnic teams
• Very strong English communication and presentation skills.
• Strong multi-tasking, coordination and project management abilities
• Some exposure to Asia would be advantageous.
