R&D Manager (Specialty Chemicals)

The Client

Our client is a large Asian group with interests in Specialty Chemicals including Adhesives and Sealants, Construction and Paint Chemicals, Industrial and Textile resins and Organic Pigments and Preparations.

For its new product development center in Singapore, we are looking for a dynamic R&D professional to join the team as :

Responsibilities :

The selected candidate will provide overall leadership to the Construction Chemicals group at Singapore R&D Centre. He/She will develop and implement strategies for new product development process, interface closely with Sales & Marketing division to develop new products for different market segments, benchmark products against local/global competition, and retain competitive edge through continuing product innovation and constant improvements.

He/She will interface with other global R&D teams as well as product/application development professionals from client organizations, coach and mentor the team, conduct product trials, manage budgets and take responsibility for project management and delivery.

Requirements :

Ideal candidates will be Chemical Engineers or Post Graduate degree holders in Chemistry. A Doctoral or Post-Doctoral qualification will be preferred. They should have a strong exposure to product development of specialty chemicals for applications in Building Materials, Coatings for Weather Protection, Fire Protection or Waterproofing.

They will ideally have at least 10 years of relevant experience in R&D in a reputed corporate/independent research establishment. Strong business focus, leadership abilities and good communication skills are essential for success in this role.
