Supplier Quality Manager

The Client

We are a US-headquartered corporation that manufactures and supplies steel, alloy and manganese castings to commercial and wear parts industries in North America and Europe. We offer products to the recycling, capital goods, construction, agriculture, mining, power generation, and pump and valve, military and other industries.

Our group has been procuring heavy castings from China for several years and established a procurement office in Shanghai to manage the supplier management processes. We are interested in recruiting an experienced supplier quality professional to join the team as:

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Asian Operations, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing the supply chain quality activities including Supplier Qualification, Production Audits, Pre-shipment Audits and all local quality functions. He/she will :

• Maintain and constantly improve a modern and professional system ensuring 100% quality supported by the necessary policy, goals, and processes, including monitoring and measurement
• Maintain and develop a computerized quality and audit database by supplier.
• Document, manage and take responsibility for flawlessly carrying out China supplier qualification, production process and shipments audits.
• Establish, maintain and prepare reports regarding production lots, pre-shipment audits and more as required to ensure zero defects and chargebacks.
• Utilizing analytical problem solving skills as needed to define root causes of quality issues as well as corrective action / control plans.
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers for quality related deficiencies.
• Liaise and attend meetings with the company personnel necessary to perform duties and aid business and organizational development.
• Attend training in the USA in order to develop relevant knowledge and skills
• Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials as required to support our customers.

Requirements

Ideal candidates will have:

• A degree in engineering from a reputed university. Specialization in metallurgy will be preferred, but is not essential.
• Diploma/Certification in Quality Management preferred.
• Exposure to manufacturing industry, especially heavy industry, construction and mining equipment, agriculture implements, power generation equipment, and pump and valve desirable.
• Knowledge of deployment of modern QA capabilities such as 6-Sigma, SPC, Poky Yoke, CMM, NDT, digital X-Ray and more. Any exposure to related products, ASTM specifications, CNC metrology, metallographic laboratory (microstructure), Metallographer experience, Magna-flux, AAR (American Association of Railroads), ABS (American Bureau of Shipbuilding), and knowledge of TS 16949, ISO 9001-2000, ISO 9002 will be a big advantage.

• Ability to travel frequently
